Scotland's Gift to the World for Armchair Travellers

Just in case you have not figured this out until now: We love Whisky! Considered Scotland’s gift to the world by many, Whisky or ''Uisge Beatha'', the ''Water of Life'', plays an important role in Scotland’s culture, history and identity. The whisky industry is of high economic importance and provides employment for many Scots, especially in rural areas. So, what’s not to like about it?

We are both very keen on the subject and just love opening up this fantastic world of flavours, scents and countless stories to you - from our Highland home straight to yours! Our interactive, multimedia presentation tells you the story of Whisky and how this exquisite drink is being made from three simple ingredients: Water, Malted Barley and Yeast. We explain the whisky-making process from grain to glass and tell you about the importance of choosing the right casks for maturation. There will be plenty of stories and anecdotes from the industry and the time when whisky was mainly produced illegally in the remote hills of Speyside. Back then, it had to be smuggled to its consumers - a constant game of hide and seek between the illicit distillers and the dreaded excise men, often leading to very creative solutions.

We will also look at the different types of Scotch Whisky and their importance for our economy and look at current trends in the industry. We believe that there is no such thing as the best whisky, but there is always a dram that fits these perfect moments in live. And if you think you don’t like whisky, you simply haven’t found the dram that’s perfect for you yet. Talking about whisky is great fun, tasting it even more: We will invite you to join our tutored tasting of three different single malts
