This cause is deeply personal to the Douglas family at Avon Valley. Doug’s lifelong friend, Rob Collingwood - who studied with Doug and Hannah, served alongside Doug in the Army, and later flew for Wiltshire Air Ambulance - was often seen flying over Avon Valley en route to Bristol Hospital. Rob was diagnosed with non‑smoking lung cancer and sadly passed away in April 2023. His wife, Hattie, and their children, Thomas and Lulu, have been supported by the Ruth Strauss Foundation.
