What age are Bala Adventure activities suitable for?

Bala Adventure have a host of age restrictions for activities, to ensure the safety of all visitors.

  • Accompanied children of all ages can take part in our Branwen boat trips (under 6s are free).
  • Canoes can be hired to children of all ages, if accompanied and under full and direct adult supervision. For unaccompanied children, the age limit is 8.
  • The minimum age is 8 for instructor-led sessions in canoeing/kayaking and climbing.
Where do Bala Adventure activities take place?

Canoeing and kayaking take place at Bala Adventure's foreshore centre.

Climbing, abseiling and gorge walking are located a short drive from the foreshore centre. Please ensure you check in at the foreshore centre first. 

What time should you arrive for Bala Adventure?

Please arrive 15 minutes early for your Bala Adventure activity. 

What are the opening hours for Bala Adventure?

Bala Adventure is open throughout the year.

  • The high season is from April until October
  • Offices are open from 9am - 5pm
  • Activities begin at 9:45am
  • The centre is closed for 2 weeks over Christmas
What do you need to bring to your Bala Adventure activity?
  • Water-based Activities: Please bring a warm change of clothes, a towel and a pair of shoes you don't mind getting wet.
  • Land-based Activities: Please bring a warm, long-sleeved top and waterproof clothes, regardless of the weather.
  • Full-day Activities: Please bring a packed lunch. 

Bala Adventure will provide all necessary safety equipment.
