Travel to Holy Island by sea at high tide
This excellent and unforgettable trip takes place aboard Farne’s Lass, a modern double-decker vessel introduced in 2023. Featuring a covered saloon and onboard toilet facilities, it offers a comfortable way to reach Holy Island.
The journey is carefully timed to arrive at high tide, when Holy Island is cut off from the mainland. This allows you to experience the true peace and tranquillity of island life, away from road access and crowds.
You’ll have approximately two hours ashore to explore the island. Popular places to visit include the Priory Museum, Lindisfarne Castle, the Museum of Island Life and the Visitor Centre.
You can also visit St Aidan’s Winery, where you may enjoy a free sample of mead, or relax in one of the island’s cafés, pubs or shops. Please note that opening times vary, so it’s best to check ahead before sailing.
On your return to Seahouses, the boat sails along the stunning Northumberland coastline, offering fantastic views of both Lindisfarne Castle and Bamburgh Castle from the sea.
