Coastal cities always have that unique blend of urban life at their heart, with the wild waters of the sea never far off.

You’re reminded of this every time a gust of wind brings with it an edge of saltiness down the street, or you turn a corner and you’re met by the vast expanse of blue stretching away into the horizon.

Cardiff from a different angle

If you’ve ever been to Cardiff, then you’re probably quite familiar with this.

But, whether you’re visiting for the first time, or have been living in the city all your life – have you ever wondered what things look like the other way round?

On one of the boat trips hosted by Cardiff Cruises, you get to discover exactly that.

As soon as the boat begins to leave dock, floating away on the gentle waves of Cardiff Bay, you begin to gain a whole new perspective of the city.

Everything starts to pan out, buildings you stood by moments ago dwindle every inch you drift away from them.

Which cruise will you choose?

If you’ve chosen the 45-minute Bay Tour, after cruising around the waterfront, you’ll head slightly south and pull up at Penarth Pier.

However, if you’re looking for something slightly more adventurous, a trip to Flat Holm Island is what you’re after.

Tucked away in the Bristol Channel, the island’s remoteness provides a quiet unlike anywhere else.

You’ll have three hours to explore the place, before the boat comes to pick you up and whisk you back to Penarth.

Back on the mainland, why not take a quick stroll through Alexandra Park before making your way to Brød – The Danish Bakery?

We’d recommend one of their famous snegls. With vegan options available too, they’ve got your plant-based needs covered.

Party at sea

Looking for a memorable way to celebrate a special occasion?

Every Saturday night, Cardiff Cruises host a Mixed Boat Party, ideal for a unique hen night, stag do, or birthday celebration everyone will remember.

With both private and group tours available, whether you’re looking for a trip with the family, or want to meet new like-minded people – you get to choose!

Being on the water, the city on one side and the open sea stretching away on the other, it’s a moment hard to forget.

When you’re back home and flicking through your photos, the joy you remember from your trip will have you smiling once again.
