Begin your journey with a sentencing at Judge Mental's Courtroom, followed by a visit to the grisly Torture Chamber in two of the Dungeon's classic shows.

There is no parking outside the Edinburgh Dungeon, but there are NCP Car Parks nearby on Castle Terrace and Holyrood Road.

By train:

Waverley Train Station is a two-minute walk away from the Edinburgh Dungeon. Take the Market Street exit, turn right onto East Market Street and you'll see the Dungeon in about 30 seconds. 

By bus:

Is Edinburgh Dungeon wheelchair-accessible?

Yes, Edinburgh Dungeon is wheelchair-accessible, but the attraction does require wheelchair reservations due to health and safety restrictions.

  • Navigation around the Dungeon is mainly via level pathways - however, there are some areas where the floor surfaces are uneven. 
  • For safety reasons, Edinburgh Dungeons can only accommodate one guest using a wheelchair at a time to ensure an evacuation chair is available to exit the building. 
  • Some guests have to be able to transfer from wheelchair to chair on the stairlift.

The recommended age for this experience is 8 years and above. This is at the discretion of the parent or guardian.

Tours leave approximately every 10-15 minutes and last around 70 minutes no matter what time you enter. 

Is there any accessible parking at the Edinburgh Dungeon?

The nearest car parks to the Edinburgh Dungeon are the Waverley Station Car Park (Postcode: EH8 8BH) and Hollyrood Road NCP Car Park (Postcode: EH8 9UL) which both have parking bays for blue badge holders.

Please note that these car parks are not operated by the Edinburgh Dungeon and that the use of these parking bays is subject to the terms and conditions of the car park operator.

Can pregnant women visit the Edinburgh Dungeon?

Pregnant women can take part in all shows at any time during their pregnancy that they feel confident to visit.

A few shows have special effects that are not recommended for pregnant guests or those with back or leg issues. These are found in the Graveyard, Braveheart's Revenge and Drop Ride.

In these shows, actors will ask if any guests are pregnant, this is your cue to raise your hand and wave it wildly, to let them know you need moving to a 'safe' area.

Are there accessible toilets at the Edinburgh Dungeon?

Yes, the main accessible toilets are located just after admissions on the lower level, which is accessible by lift before the tour.

Is the Edinburgh Dungeon suitable for those with photosensitive epilepsy?

Three Show areas contain flashing lights which may affect visitors with photosensitive epilepsy.

Speak to a member of the team before you enter and begin your tour so you can be fully briefed on the locations where strobe-lighting is used. 

An alternative route will be provided for guests who would like to bypass these areas.
