Cannock Go Ape is located at Birches Valley Forest Centre (not the Marquis Drive visitor centre). Birches Valley Forest Centre is just two miles from Rugeley, where Birches Valley road meets Penkridge Bank road.

From any direction, follow the small brown directional tourist signs.

  • From the M6 or Cannock: Follow the A460 towards Rugeley. The brown signs with the deer logo direct along the A460 through Hednesford to a left turn onto Station Road by a Chase Car Sales. Immediately you will go over the railway bridge to a set of traffic lights. Turn right onto Brindley Heath Road. After two miles you will reach a crossroads, turn right onto Birches Valley. In two miles you will reach Birches Valley Visitor Centre.
  • From Rugeley: From Globe Island in Rugeley town centre, take Western Springs Road towards Stafford for 400 yards and turn left at the traffic lights, as directed by the brown sign onto Hagley Road. Follow this road, which becomes Penkridge Bank as the houses of Rugeley gives way to the lush greenery of Cannock Chase.

By train:

Public transport is available from Stafford, Cannock and Rugeley. Either Rugeley Trent Valley, Rugeley Town or Hednesford stations are closest. From here, you can get a taxi to Cannock Chase.

You should wear something that you don’t mind getting grubby. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if it’s raining!

You need to make sure you have the correct footwear with closed toe and heel (with flat soles), no sandals or slip-off shoes.

Your stomach area will need to be covered and long hair must be tied back.

You can join the Treetop Adventure Plus at Go Ape if you're:

  • Minimum age: 6 years old
  • Minimum height: 1.2m
  • Maximum weight: 130kg

Please note: An adult (18+) can supervise up to 8 children aged 6-15 years from the ground or on the course.

Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning. Rain makes the course muddier than usual - which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather.

Sometimes, unfortunately, course may need to be closed for reasons beyond Go Ape's control, if this happens you will be given a full refund.
