How to find us

Address: Great House Barn, Rivington Lane, Horwich, Bolton, BL6 7SB

By car:

Please ensure that you don't use the postcode for directions, as Go Ape is located in rural areas, meaning sat navs may send you to the wrong location.

From Manchester, the South, Preston and Lancaster, use the M61. At JCT 6 (Macron Stadium, home ground of Bolton Wanderers Football Club) follow signs for Horwich.Stay on the main road through Horwich. When you reach the roundabout with the Crown pub on the right, go straight ahead then take the right turning immediately after onto Lever Park Avenue signed Rivington.

Follow signs to Great House Barn and Visitors Centre passing Rivington and Blackrod High School on the right and continue for about a mile. Turn left at Great House Barn into the car park and you'll find us straight ahead.

Approaching from Chorley direction, Rivington is well signed. Pass Chorley Train station on your left and take the next left signed Rivington. At the top of the road, take the second exit (right) at the roundabout, and the first exit at the following roundabout. Continue on this road for 3 miles. You should wear something that you don’t mind getting grubby. Dress for the weather so bring along a mac if it’s raining!

You need to make sure you have the correct footwear with closed toe and heel (with flat soles), no sandals or slip-off shoes.

Your stomach area will need to be covered and long hair must be tied back.

You can join the Treetop Challenge at Go Ape if you're:

  • Minimum age: 10 years old
  • Minimum height: 1.4m
  • Maximum weight: 130kg

Please note: Adults must supervise children between the ages of 10-15.

  • Under 13: One participating adult can supervise four children aged 12 and under.
  • 13-15 Years Old: One adult can supervise up to eight children aged 13-15 years while on the course or on the ground.

Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning. Rain makes the course muddier than usual – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather.

Sometimes, unfortunately, a course may need to be closed for reasons beyond Go Ape's control, if this happens you will be given a full refund.
