You'll get a taste of what's in store when you wind through Thornwaite Forest on your journey to Whinlatter Forest Park.
The ride is breathtaking as you go higher and higher and enter the clouds. Get ready for breathtaking vistas over the mountains, forests, and fells at UNESCO World Heritage Site.

If you’re a keen cyclist then you’re going to love Whinlatter Forest which has been described as ‘putting the mountain back into biking’. It’s home to the longest purpose-built mountain bike trails in the Lake District and also has a mountain bike orienteering trail.
As well as hitting all the thrill-seeking buttons, Whinlatter delivers big on the family fun too. Hit the WildPlay trail which has nine different play zones or for younger children, there is a fairy kingdom, with secret path and hidden carvings!

How To Find Us
By Car:
From Keswick: Take the A66 west towards Cockermouth. At Braithwaite turn west onto the B5292 for Lorton. Follow visitor centre signposts.
Due to the rural nature of our locations, postcodes are not always accurate when using Satellite Navigation. Please always check the route before setting off, and cross-reference with a map.
The car parking charges are as follows;
Up to 1 hour = £2.20
Each additional 20 minutes = £0.50
By Bus:
Bus routes 77/77a operate between Keswick and Whinlatter Forest.

Footwear must be sturdy and suitable for the outdoors. No sandals, slip off shoes, open toes or heels.
Wear sensible clothes for adventure and please ensure your midriff is covered.
Gloves are a good idea. Either bring a pair or you can buy them at the cabin on the day.
Go Ape is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning.
Rain makes the course muddier than usual – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather. Sometimes, unfortunately, Go Ape might need to close the course for reasons beyond our control, if this happens you will be given a full refund.
Please ensure you arrive for your Go Ape activity 15 minutes before your session begins.

All courses are designed to be accessible, but they do offer a degree of physical and mental challenge. This may mean additional equipment or adjustments to supervision.

In order to keep your gadgets and others safe, Go Ape asks that all phones and cameras are attached to the participant. Lanyards are available to buy from the cabin, subject to availability.
