How to find us

Directions from the M4 to Gower Heritage Centre:

By Car from the East:

  • Leave the M4 motorway at Junction 42.
  • Follow the A483 into Swansea. Carry straight on, following the brown tourist signs for South Gower.
  • Once through Swansea, turn right on the B4436, then after 4 miles, follow the brown signs marked Gower Heritage Centre ( turn right at Church, then left onto the A4118 to Parkmill. (13 miles from M4 junction).
  • From the M4, Exit at Junction 47: Take the A483 exit towards Swansea
  • Merge Onto A483: Follow the A483 and then join the A484, heading west towards Gowerton and Gower.
  • Continue on A484 to Gowerton: Stay on the A484 and follow signs for Gower.
  • Turn onto B4296: After reaching Gowerton, turn left onto the B4296, signposted for Gower.
  • Join the A4118: At the Penclawdd roundabout, take the first exit onto the A4118. This is the main road through the Gower Peninsula.
  • Arrive in Parkmill: Continue along the A4118 until you reach Parkmill village. The Gower Heritage Centre is located just off this main road, clearly signposted.

Is Gower Heritage Centre wheelchair accessible?

Yes, Gower Heritage Centre extend a warm welcome to all visitors. 

  • If you have any special requirements, the team will try to meet them as far as is possible.
  • The site offers a concessionary entry rate for anyone registered disabled and free entry for their helper on request – without the embarrassment of showing identification.
  • Dogs: Dogs are welcome in the Gower Heritage Centre as long as they are kept on a lead at all times but they cannot access the poultry park.
  • Mobility: The Heritage Centre consists of a collection of old buildings, so the surface underfoot is sometimes a little rough and uneven. 95% of the Centre can be easily accessed by someone in a wheelchair. There are several disabled parking spaces in the car park and it is also possible to drive right up to the front entrance to unload if necessary. There are a couple of wheelchairs available for use by our visitors.
  • Hearing Impaired: Self Guided Tours of the Mill can be done using our App which is available to download here.
  • Visually Impaired: The team try to ensure that the Centre is easy to negotiate, with steps clearly marked and pathways kept clear. The site does not currently have any material available in Braille. If you have any comments or suggestions to make about improvements they could make, they would be happy to hear them.
  • Special Needs: The site often welcome groups of people with learning difficulties, either for specialised tours or simply as individual visitors. Again, please get in touch for details of our special concessionary rates.
