Explore natural beauty at its finest

Surrounded by gorgeous views overlooking the Errwood Reservoir and picture-perfect hills, you’ll fall in love with the peaceful atmosphere and breathtaking landscapes at Goyt Valley, a few miles away from nearby Buxton.

Before heading straight there, we suggest stopping at New Inn, a delightful watering hole in the centre of Buxton, for a hearty lunch to boost your energy for the walk ahead.

If the sun’s out, grab a table in the beer garden and get comfy with a cold pint, debating whether to go for a classic club or chicken New Yorker sandwich.

From the New Inn, it’s just a ten-minute drive to Goyt Valley, where you’ll start to feel excitable butterflies about what adventures you’ll experience here.

Park the car, water, and snacks in tow, and set off on a thrilling trek through glorious wildlife.

What will you discover?

As soon as you step out of the car, you’ll feel a fresh woodland breeze brush against your skin and take in the earthy scents that'll get you moving.

The trail will take you to the ruins of Errwood Hall, built in the mid-1800s, and destroyed less than 100 years later.

You’ll also spot a cemetery, where the central grave is in memoriam of the Grimshawe family who built Errwood Hall.

Take a few moments here to reflect on the pastimes of Goyt Valley, with distant sounds of birdsong and rustling trees to keep you company.
