Discover some pretty trails

There are plenty of walking trails at Grizedale, all unique in their own way and varying in distances depending on how far you’d like to go.

The shortest is the Ridding Wood Trail, about one-mile long, brimming with picturesque oak woodland as the perfect setting for a gentle stroll.

Maybe you’d like to push yourself further? The ten-mile Silurian Way route is certainly a beast that will test your physical strength, but the glorious landscapes and earthy scents will keep you motivated to reach the finish line.

Prefer to experience the forest on two wheels? Bring the bike for a thrilling journey, basking in the fresh forest breeze brushing against your skin.

See if you can download a trail map before making the trip here, ready for the incredible scenery and delightful experiences to unfold throughout the day.

An outdoor art gallery

You’ll notice some inspirational sculptures dotted around, all crafted by leading contemporary artists and a fixture of Grizedale since the late 1970s.

Art exhibitions are also a big part of Grizedale’s unique appeal, with a fabulous art gallery space dedicated to hosting outstanding work throughout the year by new and upcoming artists.

Fancy an overnight getaway?

We think you’ll need more than a day to fully appreciate the beauty and magical atmosphere at Grizedale.

A mile-and-a-half from the Visitor Centre is where you’ll find the campsite, bursting with charm and luscious green spaces.

Set up camp in either the quaint shepherds hut - a marvellous choice for a couple’s retreat - or an adorable timber pod to cuddle up in.

Perhaps you’ve brought a big group of friends and family to share all the fun experiences? We recommend taking full advantage of the Bunk Barn which sleeps up to eight people.

Just imagine the memories you’ll create with an overnight trip here, getting cosy in front of the log burner, wrapped up in snuggly blankets, and preparing a hearty feast to eat around the dining table.

Even if you just decide to come to Grizedale for the day, you’ll still be mesmerised at every turn, and captivated by the breathtaking views that will leave an imprint on your mind.
