If travelling by car, please use the postcode DE4 3NT, which takes visitors to the nearest public car park. Heights of Abraham does not have its own car park, but there are four main pay and display car parks in Matlock Bath.

Matlock Bath train station is the nearest station and is around a short walk from the cable car station. From the village, follow the signs for the Heights of Abraham cable car base station.

Is Heights of Abraham wheelchair accessible?

Heights of Abraham has accessible buildings, accessible toilets and a wheelchair viewing area, but not all areas are accessible due to the steep hillside estate and natural cavern formations.

  • Wheelchairs and pushchairs must be no larger than 105cm x 60cm for the cable cars.
  • Mobility scooters are not recommended on site due to the steep terrain.
  • The cable cars normally run on a continuous loop, but they can stop for disabled visitors or where there is a safety risk.
  • A ramp can be provided for wheelchair users boarding the cable car.

Please note: Due to the nature of the site, a lot of the paths are quite steep and those with limited mobility may find them hard to navigate.

Does Heights of Abraham have onsite parking?

There isn't a dedicated car park. There are four main car parks in Matlock Bath. These are all run by Derbyshire Dales District Council, and therefore are all pay and display. The machines accept cash or you can pay by phone. Please note, the machines do not accept cards.

The closest car park is at Matlock Bath Train Station- DE4 3NT

Parking here is recommended as it is the closest car park to the Heights and also has a dedicated access path straight to our base station. It is a pay and display car park. The rates are £6 all day, £5 for 4 hours or £3.80 for 3 hours. The rates are the same in all Derbyshire Dales car parks. You can pay by coins or the Paybyphone app.

Blue Badge holders please note this car park does require payment.

There are no height barriers in this car park.
