Set amidst trees and a gentle stream that flows into the River Tâf, Laugharne Castle hasn't always been as peaceful is it is today. Built by Norman invaders, the castle experienced many conflicts over the centuries, before it was mostly dismantled after the English Civil War.

In the 16th century, Elizabethan courtier Sir John Perrott rescued the castle from ruin and transformed it into a grand place of residence. Despite Perrott dying while awaiting execution due to high treason, the castle's new legacy as a place of grandiosity and beauty was already cemented.

Laugharne's most famous resident, Dylan Thomas, wrote Portrait of the Artist as a Young Dog in the castle's summerhouse, while author Richard Hughes also wrote his novel In Hazard in the castle gazebo.

Visiting Laugharne Castle is a must, offering a blend of history and inspiration amidst a truly picturesque setting.
