Keep your eyes on the skies on a day out in Hampshire

Look up to see some feathered wonders at Liberty's Owl, Raptor and Reptile Centre, home to all sorts of birds from barn owls to American eagles. The first to catch your eye will likely be Liberty, the Alaska Bald Eagle of whom the site is named after. See the famous bird that’s often found in national flags and American symbolism circling the site in all its glory. There are also other raptors like falcons, hawks, vultures which can be seen in one of Liberty’s Centre regular flying displays.

Experience the thrill of a sport that’s still taken up by many today four thousand years after it was first practiced. At one of Liberty’s falconry days, you can be a part of the ancient sport yourself with one of the many birds of prey that call Liberty their home.

You'll start off meeting with staff members who will give tours of how these beautiful birds are cared for and managed, then it's time fly! You’ll be taught the basics of handling, manning and training the birds as you watch them take off from your falconry glove and in the skies around the centre. It’s truly a sight that must be seen for bird-lovers anywhere.

All you need to bring is some solid footwear and a camera before you’re be ready to take flight with some majestic birds.

Is photography more your thing? You’re in luck!

The centre runs some photography days that can be booked in advance where you can get up close with some of the birds of prey in the centre. Not only can you snap some of the birds in a studio setting, but there are sessions available with some of the smaller critters including reptiles, amphibians, harvest mice or even test your macrophotography with some creepy crawlies like stick insects, praying mantises and more.
