How to find us

By Train:

The nearest railway station is Thirsk, with direct services from Manchester, Leeds, York, Middlesbrough and London. For full details of train times and services, please visit National Rail Enquiries.

Prior to arriving at Thirsk, the team recommend familiarising yourself with the Dales & District bus timetables. Service 70 operates from Thirsk railway station to Ripon bus station, with service 159 operating directly from Ripon market place to Lightwater Valley (see below).

By Bus:

The team recommend utilising the Dales & District Bus service within our immediate locality. Service 159 stops at Lightwater Valley (Mon - Sat only)

Please note: during off peak months April, May, September & October (due to the earlier closing times) the 159 bus will not pick up from within the theme park. The bus will pick up from the opposite side of the road outside the main entrance to the theme park (visitors are advised to walk to the main theme park entrance). The main entrance and exit gates will be locked 1 hour after the park is closed to the public.

Is Lightwater Valley wheelchair accessible?

Yes! As a member of the British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions (BALPPA), they welcome visits by disabled guests and will always do all that is possible to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

Can I bring my dog to Lightwater Valley?

No – unfortunately due to both safety and hygiene protocol, the park has a zero-tolerance policy on any dogs except for assistance dogs. If you are planning on visiting this season, please DO NOT leave your dogs in your vehicle unattended due to the lack of shade.

What is the minimum age a child can visit Lightwater Valley unattended?

For the safety and well-being of all guests, children under the age of 14 cannot enter Lightwater Valley unaccompanied. They must be accompanied by an adult who is 18 years old or over.

Can you hire wheelchairs at Lightwater Valley?

Yes! They are pleased to offer Wheelchairs, which are available to hire from our Visitor Information Centre on your day of visit . There is a £10 refundable charge. Unfortunately, they do not hire Mobility Scooters.
