From magical dolls and snowy worlds to the Sugar Plum Fairy herself, Nutcracker serves up two hours of festive ballet with all the trimmings

Set in Edwardian London, Nutcracker begins on Christmas Eve as Clara and her mother visit Drosselmeyer's Sweets & Delights Emporium. Surrounded by liquorice allsorts, nougat, marzipan and sugarplums, Clara discovers a mysterious Nutcracker doll and takes it home.

As music and laughter fill the family's Christmas celebrations, Clara is swept into an extraordinary adventure. The Nutcracker comes to life and Clara courageously defends her home against the Rat King before travelling into a dazzling ice realm.

Her adventure leads all the way to the Land of Sweets & Delights, where the Sugar Plum Fairy has prepared a spectacular celebration in Clara's honour.

Choreographed by Aaron S. Watkin and Arielle Smith, with set and costume design by Dick Bird, English National Ballet's production gives the Christmas classic a colourful new world while keeping the magic at the heart of Clara's story.
