What's On this October half term at Marwell Zoo?

This October half term, you're invited for a wonderful day filled with wild adventures at Marwell Zoo! From haunting haybale mazes to creepy pumpkin carving and storytelling sessions to animal artefacts, half term at Marwell Zoo is going to be BOO-tiful!

Included in your Wild Autumn tickets:

  • Kids eat FREE! Your little ones eat free at Café Graze with every adult main meal purchased (T&C's apply)
  • Haybale Maze: Navigate the twists and turns in the intricate haybale maze on the back lawn of Marwell Hall
  • Pumpkin Carving: Daily, 11am - 4pm: Pick your favourite pumpkin and get creative with free pumpkin carving! If you don't want to carve, pick a paint and get colourful instead
  • Pumpkin Patch Games: Daily, 10:30am - 4pm: Visit the Pumpkin Patch in front of Marwell Hall and participate in Pumpkin Tic Tac Toe, Pumpkin Ring Toss & more!
  • Storytelling with Esme the Witch: Daily, 11:30am & 1:30am: Enjoy spooky storytelling at the Grade I listed Marwell Hall with Marwell's friendly Witch, Esme!
  • Keeper Talks: Download the Marwell Zoo app for animal talk and feed times: Join Marwell's keepers for special talks about remarkable reptiles - you might see lizards, snakes and even a 'monster'... 
  • Animal Myths, Facts & Fiction: 3pm each day: Join the team for talks about mythological creatures, including mermaids and dragons
  • Artefacts & Activities: Daily, 12pm - 4pm: Get hands-on with real animal artefacts and enjoy craft activities in the Science and Learning Centre

Additional activities at Marwell Zoo:

  • Face Painting: Daily, 11am - 3pm: Become a pumpkin or a ghost & get into character with seasonal face painting! 
  • Additional charge applies. Suitable for ages 4+. Face painting may not be suitable for children with sensitive skin or known skin conditions – please speak to the face painters on the day. Children must be supervised.
  • Virtual Reality Adventures: Daily, 10:30am - 3pm: Join young explorer, Kirra, in an immersive VR adventure and she sets off on a quest to find the endangered Sunda pagolin! Get up-close to wombats, koalas, orangutans and more on a journey from Tasmania to Singapore in the ultimate 360 VR experience.
  • Additional charge applies. VR shows take place daily in the Giraffe House. 
  • Food & Drink: Fuel up for your autumn adventure at Café Graze, where kids eat free with every adult main meal!
  • Kids Eat Free offer terms & conditions: Available from Café Graze only. For every adult main meal purchased, you will receive one kid’s meal for free. Adults’ main meal must be of a minimum value of £12.50. Available from Saturday 25 October to Sunday 2 November 2025. Subject to availability.

Is Marwell Zoo accessible?

Yes, Marwell Zoo is wheelchair accessible, with a range of services and facilities to ensure the Zoo is as accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for everyone.

  • There are accessible parking spaces in the main car park
  • Accessible toilets are located onsite
  • Assistance dogs are welcome, but access is restricted in certain areas
  • There are quiet spaces in the zoo
  • Hearing loops are available at the admissions area
  • The Road Train can carry one standard-sized manual wheelchair
  • There are a small number of wheelchairs available to hire from the gift shop, Marwell Stores

Marwell Zoo is suitable for all ages with experiences and activities for visitors aged 1 - 100.

  • Children up to and including the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. 
Is there food and drink available at Marwell Zoo?

There is a fantastic range of food and drink eateries located at Marwell Zoo. With so much exploring to do, you're sure to work up an appetite - so feel free to find your nearest cafe or restaurant and refresh and refuel yourself before continuing your day of discovery.

Open all year:

  • The Keeper’s Kitchen: Mon–Fri: 9am–5.30pm, Sat–Sun: 8am–5.30pm: Locally sourced, hearty food including breakfast (shakshuka, pancakes, Keeper’s Breakfast), lunch (stone-baked pizzas, toasties, jacket potatoes), sweet treats (cakes, pastries, ice cream), and drinks. Dog-friendly with puppuccinos and dog ice cream available.
  • Café Graze: Hot food served from 11.30am until 90 minutes before park closing: Main self-service restaurant near the meerkats. Offers hot meals, snacks, and drinks for dine-in or takeaway. Popular dishes include jacket potatoes, toasties, and seasonal specials. Indoor seating is limited, with covered outdoor areas available.

Seasonal outlets:

  • The Snack Shack: Open seasonally & on weekends: Located next to Café Graze. Serves a selection of hot street food and cold drinks.
  • Safari Scoops: Open seasonally: Located in Fur, Feathers & Scales. Serves a variety of ice cream, including scoop, whippy, waffle, sundae or milkshake. Offers a selection of snacks and hot or cold beverages. 
  • Okapi: Open seasonally: Located at the back of the Okapi House. Serves ice cream and a range of hot and cold drinks.
  • Ice Cream Pod: Open during summer: Located at Wild Explorers Playground. Host to an indoor picnic hut, serving a selection of ice cream.
  • Snow Leopards Ice Cream Parlour: Open seasonally: Located close to the Snow Leopards. Serves a range of hand-scooped ice creams with delicious toppings, such as caramelised biscuit, funky banana and chocolate fudge brownie. 
  • The Long Room Pop-Up Cafe: Open 25th October - 2nd November from 10:30am: Located inside Marwell Hall. Open during October half-term serving a range of delicious autumn treats. 

Bring your own:

  • With plenty of picnic areas onsite, you're welcome to bring your own homemade lunch to enjoy at the zoo
  • Please note: Picnics are not to be consumed in Cafe Graze or Coffee Corner.
  • Top Tips to enjoy your picnic: Avoid attracting wasps by sitting in the shade & keep food covered. Feed only yourselves - no birds! Once finished, please recycle and dispose of your rubbish.
