With a powerful, contemporary score and dynamic staging, Cable Street reimagines the Battle of Cable Street for a modern audience
Set in October 1936, Cable Street places audiences in the heart of London’s East End at a time of rising political tension.
As Oswald Mosley’s British Union of Fascists prepare to march through the area, local residents - Jewish families, Irish workers and communists - unite to defend the street they call home.
At the centre of the story are Sammy, Mairead and Ron, young people trying to shape their futures amid uncertainty and unrest. As events escalate, personal lives and political convictions collide, leading to a historic moment when one hundred thousand people stand together to block the road and reject hatred.
Written by Tim Gilvin and Alex Kanefsky, directed by Adam Lenson and presented by 10 to 4 Productions, this production combines intimate storytelling with the sweep of real history.
