Something strange is happening at Milestones Museum this October half term. Jekyll & Co. has brought a spectacular Victorian science fair to Basingstoke, but the experiments are not the only things behaving rather oddly.
Four ambitious scientists are competing for the chance to work with the elusive Dr Jekyll. Your family will become the judges, explore their experiments and decide who deserves to win. Just watch out for the mysterious influence of Mr Hyde along the way.
- Become an official science fair judge and collect a family Scorecard when you arrive
- Meet four eccentric scientists specialising in the human body, chemistry, microscopic discoveries and invisible forces
- Get hands-on with experiments, demonstrations and delightfully peculiar displays
- Watch live science shows on the bandstand, taking place every 90 minutes
- Talk to unusual townsfolk, including an apothecary, rat catcher and town medium
- Explore the experience at your own pace, with no fixed route to follow
- Cast your vote and decide which scientist deserves the Jekyll & Hyde Fellowship
Created for families with children aged 5 to 12, this Halloween experience is spooky rather than scary. Under 5s can also join the fun for free.

Meet four brilliant scientists and uncover their secrets
Each scientist has brought a different area of expertise to the fair. Explore their worlds, test their ideas and keep a careful eye out for signs that their ambition is taking a darker turn.
- Dr Victor Ashcombe’s Body Lab: Discover bones, muscles, reflexes, senses and the mysteries of the brain through demonstrations and hands-on activities
- Silas Crowe’s Potions and Poisons Emporium: Explore colourful reactions, mysterious mixtures and the wonders of modern chemistry
- Eleanor Marsh’s Microscopic World: Uncover germs, disease, microscopic organisms and curious creatures hidden all around us
- Professor Octavius Bell’s Invisible Forces: Investigate electricity and magnetism through interactive activities and exciting demonstrations
A spooky, not scary Halloween day out in Basingstoke
There is no set route through the science fair, so your family can investigate at its own pace. Try the experiments, speak to the characters and see whether you can spot the moment Mr Hyde’s influence takes hold.
Once you have considered the evidence, complete your Scorecard and cast your vote. There are no right or wrong answers. The winning scientist is entirely up to you.
