How to find us

By car:

From Swansea: Take the M4 West towards Carmarthen and Pont Abraham services. At the roundabout take the second exit to join the A48 towards Carmarthen. Take the third exit at the Cross Hands roundabout, remaining on the A48. After about four miles there is a slip road signposted B4310 to Nantgaredig. Come off here and follow the brown signs to the National Botanic Garden of Wales

From Carmarthen: Take the A48 towards Swansea and after approximately eight miles take the slip road signposted B4310 to Nantgaredig. Follow the brown signs for the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

By bus:

The 279 bus leaves from Carmarthen bus station and train station, an approximately 25-minute journey to the Garden.

By train:

The Garden is about eight miles from Carmarthen train station, there are bus services to the Garden from the train station. 

By bike: 

It is possible to reach the National Botanic Garden of Wales by bike. The Carmarthen-Llanelli loop on the National Cycle Network route 47, goes past the entrance of The National Botanic Garden of Wales, known as the Celtic Trail.

Is the National Botanic Garden of Wales wheelchair-accessible?

Yes, the National Botanic Garden of Wales has been designed to be accessible to all visitors, whatever their ability.

There are several wheelchairs at the visitor entrance, the Gatehouse, which are free to hire for the duration of your visit.

Is the National Botanic Garden of Wales dog-friendly?

Dogs are only permitted to visit the National Botanic Garden of Wales on 'Doggy Days', which is takes place every Monday, Friday and the first weekend of every month. 

On other days, dogs are not permitted, with the exception of assistance dogs, which are permitted daily. 

Please see below the rules for Doggy Days: 

  • Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and under the control of their owners. Extendable leads are not permitted.
  • To protect the plant collections, please keep your dogs on the path or on grassy areas. Dogs are not permitted to walk on flower beds or borders, as they may damage the  plants.
  • For reasons of security and safety, dogs are not permitted in: The Great Glasshouse, The Tropical House, The British Bird of Prey Centre, or The Children's Play Area
  • Please be a responsible dog owner, clean up after your pet and dispose of it in the bins provided.
  • Please do not leave dogs unattended at any time.
  • Aggressive dogs are not permitted in the garden. The National Botanic Garden of Wales reserves the right to refuse entry to, or remove, any dog thought to be dangerous to visitors or other dogs.
  • Please do not bring your dog to the Garden if it is in heat.
  • Guide Dogs & Assistance dogs are always welcome.

Can I bring a picnic to the National Botanic Garden of Wales?
