How to find us

By car:

Crich is conveniently situated close to many of the main routes running through the Midlands. This makes it readily accessible from Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Stoke-on-Trent, Birmingham and beyond.

Just eight miles from junction 28 of the M1, Crich can also be easily accessed using the A38, the A6, the A61 and the A52. The Sat-Nav postcode DE4 5DP. 

By bus: 

The Museum has a bus stop directly outside the entrance. Buses run from Matlock (140), Ripley (141), Alfreton (140 / 143a) and Belper (142).

By train: 

The nearest railway station is Whatstandwell, from which it is a steep uphill walk of about a mile.

Alternatively, there are railway stations, at Belper, Matlock and Alfreton through which East Midlands Railway operate regular trains to and from Derby. These stations are reachable by a local bus service.

Is the National Tramway Museum dog-friendly?

Yes, the National Tramway Museum is dog-friendly. Please keep dogs on leads at all times, and do not take your dog into the main café or the indoor play area.

Service dogs are permitted at all areas of the museum. Other dogs can go everywhere else, including the ground floor of the Red Lion pub and all indoor exhibition areas. Dogs can even travel on the trams!

Yes, the museum is wheelchair-accessible, but there still may be some areas that can be challenging.

Yes, free parking at the museum is included in your ticket. 

How many tram rides can I take at the National Tramway Museum?

Once you're on site, you can have as many tram rides as you wish. The operational trams run approximately every 15 minutes during the day. These are all included in your admission ticket.

Can carers visit the National Tramway Museum for free?

Yes, carers are permitted to visit the National Tramway Museum for no extra charge. Proof of carer ID is required.
