Celebrate St George's Day in Newcastle

Join re-enactors from the Castle's own Newcastle Array and celebrate the medieval patron Saint of England, St George! Enjoy family crafts, displays and performances throughout your day.

Family Crafts:

  • 11am - 3pm
  • Harbottle Suite in the Black Gate
  • Make a knight, dragon or try brass rubbing in arts and crafts activities!

Living History Displays:

  • 10am - 4pm
  • In the Gaol in the Castle Keep
  • See displays of historical crafts from medieval life! Learn about the inhabitants of the castle and how they lived 700+ years ago.

Knight School:

  • 10am - 4pm
  • In the Great Hall in the Castle Keep
  • Try on medieval armour and learn about Knights during the Middle Ages
  • Try your hand at sword training with foam swords and shields!
