Magnificent treasures in the Devon countryside
There’s nothing like a peaceful walk in the forest.
The landscapes at Northcombe offer a superb retreat to get in touch with glorious nature and practice the technique of mindfulness, away from the day-to-day hustle and bustle.
Come prepared with your comfy walking boots, a big bottle of refreshing water, and a few energy-boosting snacks to conquer the circular forest loop.
Think the dog will want to join in all the fun? They’ll love the chance to make friends with the other excitable dogs and run after their favourite ball, picking up some tasty sticks along the way!
Start your day off right
But before you set off on your woodland adventure, we think you should stop at a delightful pub called The Junction Inn, only a five-minute drive away.
As you pull up, you’ll immediately be greeted by a quintessential Victorian building brimming with character and gorgeous, colourful plants that decorate the entrance.
Chris, Gail and the team are on hand to welcome you inside as you find a cosy spot, a pint of local real ale in hand, scanning the menu for the perfect fuel before a woodland trek.
So, what will you go for? We suggest either the grilled halloumi burger or the homemade vegetable chilli to get you going, ready to explore the stunning wildlife ahead.
Feel ready to begin?
You’ll instantly feel centered as you jump out of the car, eager to hit the trail and wander the picture-perfect scenery.
Take a few moments to stand completely still and hear the distant sound of tweeting birds and waving trees that will become the soundtrack to your walk and keep you company until the end.
There are no waymarked trails at Northcombe, giving you the freedom to venture off in any direction that appeals the most.
See if you can spot the various species of birds that call the forest their home, sitting elegantly on the branches of beautiful Sitka spruce conifer trees.
Bring your loved ones
A good group of friends or family will adore the picturesque views and joyful atmosphere oozing from Northcombe when they tag along.
Future visits will become a new tradition, and the woodland will always welcome you back for calm, gentle strolls.
