By car:

Set your Sat Nav for TQ4 7EU. Paignton Zoo is located on the A3022 Totnes Road, one mile from Paignton town centre. Take the direction to Paignton from the A380 following the brown tourist signs marked with an elephant (please note that there are no elephants at Paignton Zoo). You will then find the zoo situated right next to a Morrisons supermarket. 

  • From Newton Abbot: About 15 minute drive, via A380 
  • From Exeter: About 35 minute drive, via A380
  • From Plymouth: About 45 minute drive, via A38 and A385
  • From Cornwall: About 1 hour, 45 minute drive.

Paignton Zoo has free parking for 1,110 cars on site and some further parking in the overflow car park a short walk away. This is available on a first come, first served basis. 

By bus: 

Routes 22 and Stagecoach Gold both stop right by the zoo. 

By train:

Paignton train station is located in the town centre and can be reached from Exeter and Plymouth stations within an hour. Onward travel to Paignton Zoo is by bus (the Paignton bus station is right opposite the train station) or a 20 minute walk along Totnes Road.

By bike: 

If you choose to reach Paignton Zoo by bike, there is a free secure bike rack behind the main entrance.

Is Paignton Zoo wheelchair accesible?

Yes, Paignton Zoo is wheelchair accessible. Mobility scooter hire is available, pre booking is advised.

Where can I park at Paignton Zoo?

The zoo has free parking for 1,110 cars on site and some further parking in the overflow car park a short walk away. This is available on a first come, first served basis. 

Parking can not be guaranteed for every visitor and using public transport is recommended where possible.

There are designated disabled bays located on the first level of the main car park and visitors can be dropped outside and collected from the turning circle at the main zoo entrance.

Are dogs allowed at Paignton Zoo?

Dogs and other pets are not permitted at Paignton Zoo, with the exception of registered assistance dogs. 

Is smoking allowed at Paignton Zoo?

Smoking is not permitted in outdoor queuing areas, food & drink outlets or picnic areas. Smokers must be considerate of other guests and to follow smoking restrictions shown on signs throughout the zoo. The smoking policy also extends to include vaping and e-cigarettes.

Can I feed or hold animals at Paignton Zoo?

To give our animals the most natural life possible, and for their welfare, the majority of the animals on site are not handled.
