How To Find Us
By car:
If using a SatNav system, it is recommended to use the postcode SN15 4PZ rather than REME Museum's actual postal postcode (SN15 4XX).
The site is located beside MOD Lyneham’s main entrance off of the A3102, the Calne to Swindon Road. If you are travelling by car from the M4 use Junction 16, head towards Royal Wootton Bassett then follow MOD Lyneham or the older RAF Lyneham signs towards the main entrance to MOD Lyneham.
The Museum can be accessed by turning off the A3102 at the main gate to MOD Lyneham with which, the site shares an entrance route.
By bus:
The number 55 Stagecoach bus runs from both Swindon and Chippenham rail stations, passing through Lyneham in both directions. During the Museum’s opening hours the bus runs every 20 minutes.
The bus stop closest to the Museum is MOD Lyneham Main Gate, located on the A3102, less than 350 meters from the Museum’s entrance.
By train:
The nearest train stations to the Museum are Chippenham (10 miles away) or Swindon (12 miles away). There are regular trains to and from London, Bristol, the West Country and South Wales from both stations.
The 55 bus runs to and from these stations and taxis ranks are located nearby.

The museum is designed for everyone. Whether you’re a REME veteran or trying to entertain young children, the displays are suitable for all ages and backgrounds.
The museum is open Tuesday – Sunday, 10.00 – 16.30, with last entry at 15.00 to allow for ample time to explore the galleries.
We recommend leaving at least two hours to view all of the displays. Remember to leave time for a trip to Crown’s Café for lunch or a coffee!
The museum has a large, free car park including dedicated coach and disabled parking spaces
The museum is fully accessible with disabled parking bays, accessible toilets and step free access throughout.
You are welcome to take photos during your visit, as long as they are for personal, non-commercial use. Please do not use flash so other visitors are not distracted.
Dogs are not allowed inside the Museum or in Crown's Café, other than assistance dogs.
