Embark on a family day out in Harrogate at RHS Garden Harlow Carr

The great thing about gardens is, you never step in the same garden twice.

The natural world around us is constantly changing, particularly in climates like we have in the UK where our seasons play a huge role.

Step into a garden in spring and you'll see new life all around you, bursting with fresh new bulbs and flowers. Come summer, it's time to enjoy the garden environment, ablaze with colour and abuzz with wildlife! Then suddenly it's autumn, and we see the leaves begin to turn their ruddy reds and oranges in one final dazzling display before winter creeps in with Jack Frost in tow, turning the garden into an icy wonderland.

And this seasonal story is told so well at RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Yorkshire.

What will I find at RHS Garden Harlow Carr?

You will find so much to see and do at RHS Garden Harlow Carr. Here are some (but not all) of the beautiful things you will find at this garden attraction:

  • Streamside - running through the heart of Harlow Carr is Streamside, one of the original and most iconic areas of the garden, lush with moisture-loving plants and eye-popping colour.
  • Woodland - the ideal adventure ground for families with little ones. Lots of play areas to burn off that excess energy!
  • Kitchen Garden - the perfect spot to pick up tips if you've taken up growing your own fruit and veggies at home.
  • Sub-Tropicana Garden - transport yourselves from Yorkshire into the paradise gardens of the tropics!
  • Scented Garden - one of Harlow Carr’s more intimate garden spaces that celebrates the delights of scented plants and is packed with ideas and planting schemes suitable for the home garden.
  • Queen Mother's Lake - a tranquil area of blue space in a vast and wild green space. Bursting with wildlife and magnificent trees, Queen Mother's Lake is the perfect resting spot to watch nature do what it does best.
