Shindig Festival is committed to reducing its environmental impact and encourages all festival‑goers to travel sustainably wherever possible. Car sharing is strongly recommended and helps reduce congestion, emissions, and creates a great start to the festival experience.

Festival‑goers are encouraged to use the Facebook event page to find or offer lifts. A single 100‑mile car journey can generate over 20kg of CO₂ – sharing makes a real difference.

Travelling by Car (RED GATE)

Charlton Park is located just off the A429 between Cirencester and Chippenham, near Malmesbury.

  • A marked walkway leads from the stop to the festival entrance.
  • Do not walk on the main road.

Accreditation opens at 12:00 on Thursday.
Early arrivals will be held in the car park until this time. No facilities are available there.

Is Shindig Festival wheelchair accessible?

Yes, Shindig Festival is committed to making the event as accessible as possible. Please read the information below to help plan your visit and understand the facilities and support available.

Site Information

Shindig Festival takes place on parkland. Most ground is even and firm, however access can become difficult in poor weather. If it rains, areas of the site may become muddy and challenging to navigate.

There is no official internal transport due to site limitations.

Stewards and security staff are available across the site to assist if required.

Personal Assistant Tickets

If a customer cannot attend without the support of a Personal Assistant and has purchased a valid ticket, one complimentary Personal Assistant ticket can be issued with appropriate evidence.

Accepted evidence includes:

  • Middle or Higher Rate DLA (care and/or mobility)
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • Evidence of severe sight impairment
  • CredAbility Access Card (+1 category)

The assisted customer must hold a paid ticket. Complimentary or free tickets are not eligible.

Accessible Parking

Accessible parking is very limited and reserved only for those who require it.

  • A standard Car Pass or Live‑In Vehicle Pass must be purchased in advance
  • On arrival, speak with stewards to receive an Accessible Parking Pass
  • Stewards will direct vehicles to the appropriate accessible area

Accessible Camping:

Accessible facilities are shared between accessible camping and live‑in vehicle areas.

Medication

Visitors should bring doctor’s notes or prescription copies for all medication and have them ready for security checks.

Medication requiring refrigeration must be arranged in advance by emailing the festival so the Medical Team can assist.

Charging Medical Devices

  • Medical devices can be charged at the Accessible Camping hub.
  • Shindig Festival cannot take responsibility for devices left charging.

Accessible Toilets

Accessible toilets are located at the end of every toilet row

  • Toilets are padlocked
  • Access codes are available from stewards or security
  • Accreditation can add the code to an accessibility wristband on request
  • Please do not share codes or remove padlocks.
  • Return padlocks after use.

Cooking Equipment

  • Small camping gas hobs are permitted if gas canisters are 300g or under.
  • Boiled water cannot be provided, but the festival recognises that some medical needs require controlled food preparation.

Main Arena & Venues

  • The Dig Inn bar has a lowered serving area
  • Stewards are available to assist at all times
  • No viewing platforms are provided
  • Anyone needing front‑of‑stage access should speak to the nearest steward

Is Shindig Festival suitable for children?

Shindig Festival caters for all ages!

  • The Kids Kingdom will be fully programmed with activities to keep them busy and runs from 9am-5pm in the daytime.
  • There will be a performance show for kids to watch between 5-6pm.
  • Then, for the parents that want to stay up, bands are on till late.
  • Also, kid- friendly films will be shown in the Cinema daily until 10pm.
Is there food and drink at Shindig Festival?

Yes! Enjoy delicious food from a variety of traders. All food tastes are covered, and most vendors offer a kids portion on request.

What are the opening times for Shindig Festival in Wiltshire?

The gates will open at midday Thursday 21st May and close at 10pm that night, no entry after that time until Friday morning at 10am.

Gate Times:

  • Thurs: Midday - 10pm
  • Fri: 10am - 10pm
  • Sat: 10am - 8pm
  • Sun: 10am - 8pm
  • (Only guests and artists will be allowed entry after this point)

There will be flexibility on entry for Sunday ticket holders if they are unable to arrive before 8pm.

Please Note: You can exit the festival at any time.

Camping at Shindig Festival: Park & Pitch

Park & Pitch camping at Shindig Festival allows festival‑goers to camp with their vehicle parked directly next to their tent, offering greater convenience for unloading, accessibility, and storing belongings. This option must be purchased in advance and is subject to availability.

Park & Pitch passes are valid for standard cars only. Live‑in vehicles such as campervans or caravans are not permitted in Park & Pitch areas and require a separate Live‑In Vehicle ticket.

Arrival & Access

  • Park & Pitch campers can arrive and access the campsite from the opening of the festival gates.
  • Vehicles are directed to the designated Park & Pitch field by stewards on arrival.
  • Entry is only permitted with a valid Park & Pitch pass, which must be presented alongside a festival ticket. 

Vehicle Rules

  • Vehicles must remain within the allocated Park & Pitch space once parked
  • Sleeping in cars is not permitted
  • Cars may not be moved once parked unless directed by staff
  • Each Park & Pitch pass covers one vehicle only 

Camping Setup

  • Tents must be pitched within the allocated space next to the vehicle, ensuring clear access routes are maintained.
  • Fires and barbecues are not permitted anywhere in the campsite for safety reasons.
  • All campers are expected to follow steward instructions and campsite safety guidance at all times. 

Facilities

  • Park & Pitch campers have access to the standard campsite facilities provided across the festival, including toilets and welfare services.
  • Showers are available onsite (where applicable), subject to festival arrangements.

Length of Stay

Camping is available for the full duration of the festival.

  • Park & Pitch campers can stay onsite across all festival days, provided they hold a valid weekend ticket and camping pass.
