Book The Jigsaw of History Tour – Coventry’s story beyond the Cathedrals, discover the city that keeps reinventing itself

Coventry isn’t just a city with a past, it’s a city that’s constantly shaped the future. The Jigsaw of History Tour takes you on a 2 hour and 30 minute guided walk through the heart of Coventry, zig zagging through streets and stories that go far beyond the Cathedral Quarter.

Tour details:

  • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
  • It’s Coventry beyond the cathedrals, a deeper dive into the city’s lesser-known but equally powerful stories
  • Perfect for history lovers, curious locals, visitors, and school or group outings
  • A chance to see how Coventry’s past and future fit together like a jigsaw puzzle
  • Meeting point: Broadgate Coventry, Coventry GB CV1 1NE
  • The route is designed to be accessible, though as with many city centres, occasional obstacles like poorly parked cars may affect ease of access. If needed, your guide will assist wheelchair users to navigate any issues along the way.

What you'll discover:

  • The industrial booms that made Coventry a global leader in weaving, watchmaking, bicycles, and cars
  • The most complete section of the old City Wall and the real story of where the English Civil War began
  • The Royal Palace in the city centre, once home to kings and queens when Coventry was briefly the capital of England
  • The inventors who gave the world the bicycle and the jet engine
  • Dozens of public artworks hidden in plain sight, even locals might not have noticed them
  • The city’s rich cultural legacy and its rebirth as the Phoenix City after the devastation of the Blitz

Come walk the streets of a city that’s always been ahead of its time. Book your place on the Jigsaw of History Tour and experience Coventry’s story like never before.

More Info
Are the routes wheelchair accessible?

Normally, the largest barrier to accessibility on the walk is a couple of streets with cobbles. However, like in any city, building and road works can appear without a great deal of notice which can block access along the route or mean there is additional uneven ground. Please use your own discretion when booking your tour if any of your party have mobility issues.

How do I recognise the Sky Blue City Walks guide?

Sky Blue Tailcoat, Sky Blue Top Hat, Coventry Flag.

Are Children allowed on Sky Blue City Walks tours?

Yes! Ages 13 and under go FREE!

What should I bring on my Sky Blue City Walk?

A happy face and a positive attitude, willing to learn. If you intend to walk, shoes are recommended. Preferably ones which are suitable for walking on potentially wet and slippery cobblestones.
