How to find us

By Train:

  • Salisbury is the nearest train station. There is a direct line from London Waterloo which takes around one hour and 30 minutes.
  • From Salisbury you can take a taxi from the station (12 miles/19 km) or take the Stonehenge Tour Bus which departs hourly from the railway station forecourt. You have the option to stop off at Old Sarum if you choose to take the bus. 

By Coach:

  • There are many companies offering coach tours from London. Many of these depart from London Victoria 364 days per year.

By Car:

  • Stonehenge is located just off the A303. For Sat-Nav use SP4 7DE and follow the brown and white tourist signs to the Visitor Centre.
  • Journey time from central London is around two hours.

How does my Stonehenge ticket work?

This ticket entitles you to entry for Stonehenge and the Stonehenge Visitor Centre. The ticket also includes a free audio guide which will be available on-site. 

How long should I spend at Stonehenge?

Most visitors spend at least 2.5 hours at Stonehenge and the Visitor Centre, but you're welcome to spend however long you like at the ancient site. 

Can I bring food to Stonehenge?

You are welcome to bring your own picnic to Stonehenge. There is a dedicated picnic area in the monument field. 

Takeaway catering is also served at the visitor centre if you wish to purchase food on the day. 

Can I bring my dog to Stonehenge?

Dogs are welcome at the Visitor Centre, but are not allowed to enter the field where the stone circle stands, as well as parts of the landscape where sheep are grazing or on any of the shuttle buses. It is recommended that you leave your pets at home when visiting Stonehenge. 

Assistance dogs are welcome across the site, including at the Visitor Centre and at the stone circles. 

Are there any left luggage facilities at Stonehenge?

There are no cloakroom or left luggage facilities so please don’t bring anything other than essential items with you. 

How do I get to Stonehenge from the Visitor Centre?

Visitor buses run frequently throughout the day to get you to and from Stonehenge. These buses take around 5-10 minutes to reach the site. 

You can also walk a well-marked route to Stonehenge from the Visitor Centre, which can take you around 25-40 minutes depending on your pace. 

Is Stonehenge wheelchair-accessible?

The Visitor Centre and the visitor bus are fully accessible to wheelchairs and those with access needs.

The path from the visitor bus stop to Stonehenge is around 200m and is suitable for wheelchair use, although there is a slight gradient.
