By Car:

  • Stonor House and Gardens is conveniently located between the M4 (Junction 8/9) and the M40 (Junction 6), along the B480 Henley-on-Thames to Watlington Road.
  • It is just a 10-minute drive north of Henley-on-Thames, approximately 40 minutes from Oxford and Heathrow Airport, 30 minutes from Reading, and around an hour from central London.
  • Visitors approaching via the M40 from the east should exit only at Junction 6. Satellite navigation systems may incorrectly suggest exiting at Junctions 4 or 5, which can add up to an hour to the journey.

By Train

  • The nearest railway station is Henley-on-Thames. Regular services connect Henley with London Paddington via Twyford.
  • Upon arrival, taxis are readily available at the station for the short onward journey to Stonor.

By Bus

  • While there is limited direct bus service to Stonor, regional routes serve Henley-on-Thames and Watlington.
  • From either town, taxis or local transport options can be used to reach the estate.

Is Stonor House and Gardens wheelchair accessible?

Due to the nature of Stonor House being part of a collection of medieval buildings, it is not suitable for wheelchair users.

However, the gardens are manageable for visitors with disabilities, but the paths are gravel and there are some steep slopes.

Is Stonor House and Gardens dog-friendly?

Dogs are allowed on the estate, but must be kept on leads at all times. 

  • Dogs are not allowed into the House, Formal Gardens or Wonder Woods, but there are 'Dog Parking' stations outside each area. 
Is there parking at Stonor House and Gardens?

There is a large car park for customers at Stonor House and Gardens Visitor Centre, located at the top of the drive.

The car park is only accessible during opening hours.
