This autumn, step into a world of fire, flavour, and folklore as the Mabon Street Food Circus returns to the majestic grounds of Caldicot Castle.

Welcome to Mabon: Fire, Feast & Folklore

Mabon is a celebration of fire cooking, seasonal food and togetherness, set within the medieval walls of Caldicot Castle in South Wales. Created by Hang Fire BBQ and Street Food Circus, this three-day food festival marks the Autumn Equinox – a moment of balance, harvest and shared feasting around the fire.

Feast Over Open Flames

Across the castle grounds, some of the UK’s most exciting fire kitchens serve small plates cooked over wood and flame. Expect bold BBQ, slow-smoked meats, fire-driven global flavours and thoughtfully crafted vegetarian options, all using seasonal and ethical produce.

Fire Kitchens & Chefs

Mabon brings together standout fire chefs including Hang Fire BBQ, Feast Pembrokeshire, Bab Haus and The Smoke & Barrel Brothers. Each kitchen offers their own take on live-fire cooking, transforming simple ingredients into seriously memorable dishes.

Learn, Listen & Gather

Between bites, visitors can join live cookery demos, fireside chats and food talks with chefs, producers and writers. As the flames flicker, storytelling, folklore and music create a warm, communal atmosphere that runs from day into night.

More Than a Food Festival

Alongside the food, discover a new-wave producers’ market, natural wines and drinks, live performances and the iconic Mabon Fire Walk on selected evenings. Whether you come for a single session or a full day, Mabon is about slowing down, sharing great food and celebrating the turning of the season.

How to find us

Visitors are encouraged to use the train to reach the site, and can arrange a taxi with the car park postcode NP26 4HU.

By train:

Caldicot Train Station is just a 5-minute drive from the site, or an approximate 20-minute walk.

Trains are served from all major routes, including Newport, Carmarthen, Cardiff, Swansea, Bristol and London.

By car: 

The Big Banquet is located in the grounds of Caldicot Castle, just 10 minutes off the M4 between Chepstow and Newport. It’s around 40 minutes from Bristol and Cardiff. Sat-Nav address is Caldicot Castle, Church Road, Caldicot, NP26 4HU. 

From the West:

  • Exit at Magor Services junction 23A.
  • Follow signs for Caldicot.
  • Follow signs for Castle. 
  • Enter the Castle grounds via Church Street 

From the East: 

  • Use the M48 over the old Severn Bridge for a more direct route.
  • Enter the Castle grounds via Church Street

Well-behaved dogs are welcome on all sessions but at a limited capacity. It is essential to book a free dog pass online. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Mabon is a family-friendly event suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

Is food included in the ticket price?

Food and drink is purchased separately from the fire kitchens on the day for standard entry tickets.
