On their stoop in Queens, New York, two friends have been winding up a third pal for as long as they can remember.

Lamont, a legendary emcee, Mr Bugz, a hall-of-fame DJ and Gerry, a musical lover have been friends for years, bonding over their love and passion for music. 

But when two young women, Nancy and Val, debut their rap battling skills in a test of nerve, the friends are forced to confront their convictions on race, sexuality and music. 

Struggling with secrets and fearful for the future, the trio realise they have more in common than they ever thought.
