The Royal Mint Experience will take you through 1100 years of history, from where it all began in The Tower of London in the 9th century to its journey to Llantrisant (and everything in between).
You'll discover that The Royal Mint has actually made coins for 100 countries across the world throughout its history. And they also produce medals for military and sporting events.
In fact, the medals you saw being won at the London 2012 Olympics were produced by the Royal Mint!
Go behind the scenes and watch the coins be made in front of your very eyes. Here, you'll learn all about the magical transformation from a plain piece of metal to the perfect coin.
Did you know that every single coin produced by the Royal Mint must be 100% accurate? That includes its composition, weight, thickness, and design - that's a lot of pressure!
Your host will tell you why every detail on the coin has been added and we're sure you'll be inspecting your own coins to see if they're the same.

By car:
If you’re using a Sat Nav or a GPS navigation device, the postcode is CF72 8YT.
- Exit junction 34 of the M4, take the exit signposted to Llantrisant
- Follow the road through two sets of traffic lights and continue to the first roundabout
- At the first roundabout, take the second exit and continue through two sets of traffic lights to the second roundabout
- At the second roundabout, take the second exit
- Continue to the next roundabout, taking the fourth exit
- Continue straight on and take the third left to arrive in The Royal Mint Experience car park

The closest train station to The Royal Mint is Pontyclun which is approximately four miles from The Royal Mint Experience. There are frequent train connections to Cardiff Central and there are taxi firms nearby from Pontyclun.
