Be surrounded by (and learn all about) money at the Royal Mint Experience!
Are you an avid coin collector who knows your rare coins from the standard ones? Or do you just like the idea of being surrounded by impressive creations?
Either way, you're in luck. Go behind the scenes and learn all about this iconic place, with your friendly host, who'll make sure you leave full of newfound knowledge about the coins in your pocket.
Discover a whole world of coinage
The Royal Mint Experience will take you through 1100 years of history, from where it all began in The Tower of London in the 9th century to its journey to Llantrisant (and everything in between).
You'll discover that The Royal Mint has actually made coins for 100 countries across the world throughout its history. And they also produce medals for military and sporting events.
In fact, the medals you saw being won at the London 2012 Olympics were produced by the Royal Mint!
Go behind the scenes and watch the coins be made in front of your very eyes. Here, you'll learn all about the magical transformation from a plain piece of metal to the perfect coin.
Did you know that every single coin produced by the Royal Mint must be 100% accurate? That includes its composition, weight, thickness, and design - that's a lot of pressure!
Your host will tell you why every detail on the coin has been added and we're sure you'll be inspecting your own coins to see if they're the same.
Strike your own coin!
The Royal Mint is the only place in the UK where you can strike your own coin and take it home in a display package, making a great keepsake.
The coin you'll get to create also depends on when you visit and what the Mint is celebrating at the time, so the next time you come here, you might be heading home with a completely different coin!
After you’ve finished your tour and looked around the exhibition, head to the gift shop and see what commemorative coins you fancy taking home with you.
We reckon after your visit, you’ll be stocking up on coin albums and obsessively checking your change every day for that rare coin to complete your collection.
