Ride behind the legendary Flying Scotsman this February with Vintage Trains in Birmingham

  • Dates: 18th, 19th & 20th February
  • Duration: Approximately 1 hour
  • Meeting Point: Birmingham Moor Street Station
  • Tickets include: Reserved seating, vintage carriage travel, steam locomotive experience

Seats are strictly limited on each service, running for just three days only during February half term - there will be no further chances to ride Flying Scotsman this year!

These special services, known as The Moor Street Scot, offer the first opportunity of the year to travel behind Flying Scotsman under her own power on the mainline. After departing Birmingham Moor Street by diesel traction, the locomotive takes over for the return journey – opening up and running at express speeds.

Fast, loud and exhilarating, this is steam rail travel as it was meant to be experienced. With speeds around three times faster than heritage railways, you’ll feel the power, hear the exhaust and witness history in motion as the iconic engine charges through the Midlands.

Whether you’re introducing the whole family to steam for the first time or ticking off a lifelong bucket‑list dream, this is a truly unforgettable experience – and one that will not be repeated later in the year.
