Important Information from Vintage Trains:

Tyseley Locomotive Works site is an operational railway environment, and appropriate safety precautions are necessary.

  • The guided tour involves walking on uneven surfaces and includes rails, and steps. It is unsuitable for those who have mobility issues.
  • Sensible closed flat robust footwear must be worn. As part of the tour is outdoors suitable wet weather clothing should be worn, when appropriate. The lead booker must ensure they inform everyone in their group wears the correct footwear.
  • Appropriate clothing should be worn and avoid touching equipment or any vehicle to protect from oil, grease and dirt.
  • Locomotives in steam have hot surfaces and must not be touched to avoid burns or scalds.
  • Visitors should be aware of uncovered pits, avoid standing on wooden pit boards and not to go around barriers.
  • Do not climb or enter any rail vehicles.
  • Visitors must remain with the Tour Guides on the walking routes and obey any instructions given by the Tour Guides. Shunting and rail movements can occur at any time.
  • Children under 16 MUST be supervised by a responsible adult.
  • No pets are allowed in the depot site except guide dogs.
  • Smoking or vaping is not permitted on the Site Tour.
  • Photographs can be taken but are not permitted in the workshop or where staff are engaged in a working activity.
  • Videoing is prohibited on the site
