Explore the beautiful grounds at Waddesdon Manor

Looking for a relaxed day out in Buckinghamshire? Waddesdon Manor’s grounds are the perfect place to wander, explore and unwind. From wide open green spaces to beautifully designed formal gardens, there’s plenty to see at your own pace.

  • Explore the famous Parterre with its colourful, intricate planting
  • Visit the Aviary and see a variety of endangered birds
  • Wander through the Rose Garden, blooming with colour in the warmer months
  • Enjoy scenic walking routes and open green spaces across the estate
  • Food-to-go outlets and picnic spots available throughout the grounds

Originally created by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild in the late 19th century, the grounds have grown from a bare hilltop into a stunning example of Victorian horticulture. Today, you’ll find elegant formal gardens, tree-lined walks and peaceful corners waiting to be discovered.

The Parterre is one of the standout sights, with thousands of plants arranged in striking patterns, while the Rose Garden fills the air with colour and fragrance throughout summer. For something a little different, stop by the Aviary — a historic structure inspired by Versailles that now plays an important role in protecting rare and endangered birds.

A great day out for families, walkers and garden lovers

Whether you're visiting with family, catching up with friends or just enjoying a solo stroll, Waddesdon’s grounds offer something for everyone. There’s plenty of space for children to run around, as well as quieter spots where you can slow things down and take it all in.

Bring a picnic or grab something to eat from the on-site cafés, then settle in and enjoy the surroundings. However you spend your time here, it’s an easy, enjoyable way to experience one of Buckinghamshire’s most impressive heritage estates.

Book your tickets today and start planning your day out at Waddesdon Manor.

By bike:

Waddesdon Manor encourages car-free travel and cycling is a great way of doing this.

If you wish, you may leave your bike in the sheltered rack next to the electric charging points and continue into the grounds via shuttle bus.

You may wish to continue cycling to the Stables using the main entrance road where there is another sheltered bike rack in the parking area.

When you are ready to leave, you can cycle down the exit drive, taking a right at the bottom onto Green Lane, and then back to the car park/Greenway, or exit via Silk Street and onto the A41.
