Walsall Arboretum welcomes anyone seeking a break from city life.

Since its opening in the 1870s, it’s been a place  people have flocked to when in need of a retreat back to nature.  

Under the treetops

Just the idea of an arboretum conjures up images of beautiful stretches of tree-lined avenues inviting you for a wander – all of which you’ll find here.

But as your stroll begins, marvelling at the absolute beauty of the nature surrounding you, there are a few surprises along the way.

From outdoor fitness and children’s play areas to a skate park and multi-use games area – there are enough activities at the arboretum to keep you entertained for the whole day.

Getting out of the house for just an hour or so, whether it’s with the little ones or by yourself, is one of the best ways to clear your head.

Take a slow stroll under the treetops as you listen to your favourite podcast. Spare a whole morning and wander with no destination in mind. Until that is, the desire for a frothy latte has you making a beeline for the Walsall Arboretum Café.

Up for a challenge?

Every Saturday at 9am, the arboretum hosts a free parkrun for anyone who fancy’s giving it a go.

Whether you’re a keen runner and want to see if you can improve your 5k time, or want to get slightly fitter this year – you’ll find likeminded people who share the same goals.

There are plenty of car parks near the arboretum, but if you’re local, we’d encourage the use of public transport to attend the event.
