Explore Westminster Abbey with a special private tour!
The construction of Westminster Abbey dates back to 1045 when King Edward the Confessor ordered its construction. What we can see today dates from between 1245 to 1517 when its original Romanesque style was replaced by Gothic, after the renovation ordered by Henry III.
The guide will take the visitors through the corners of this famous building, a traditional place for the coronations and burials of English and British monarchs. Since the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, all English monarchs have been crowned at the Abbey, except for Joanna I and Edward V.
Visitors will see numerous graves of various members of the royal family, aristocrats, and distinguished figures such as scientists and poets. Among them are the graves of Charles Dickens, Geoffrey Chaucer, and Rudyard Kipling.
In recent years, the Abbey has been the site of Princess Diana's funeral and the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
