Weymouth Harbour is centrally located on the beautiful Dorset coast and is easy to reach, whether you’re travelling by car, train, or bus. Nestled just a short walk from the vibrant Weymouth town centre, the harbour is surrounded by charming shops, cosy cafés, and family-friendly attractions – perfect for exploring before or after your time on the water.

The harbourside itself is largely flat, offering easy access for prams and wheelchairs, and makes for a lovely, leisurely stroll with views of sailing boats, fishing vessels, and the sea beyond.

By car:

Weymouth is easily accessible by road. From the A35 (which connects to Dorchester and Poole), take the A354 directly into Weymouth. The route is clearly signposted and offers a scenic drive, especially as you approach the coast.

There are several public car parks located within a short walking distance of Weymouth Harbour, including:

  • Harbourside Car Park (DT4 8DZ) – Just steps from the harbour.
  • Cosens Quay Car Park (DT4 8DL) – A short stroll across the bridge.
  • Pavilion Car Park (DT4 8DZ) – Ideal for visitors attending events or catching a boat trip. Free after 6pm.
  • Swannery Car Park (DT4 7TY) – A larger long-stay option, about 10–15 minutes on foot.

All car parks are pay-and-display, and many accept contactless or app payments. Be sure to check signage for time limits or seasonal restrictions.

By train:

Weymouth Railway Station (postcode DT4 7BN) is the closest station and is approximately a 15-minute walk from the harbour. Trains run regularly to and from:

  • London Waterloo (via South Western Railway – approx. 3 hours)
  • Bristol and Bath (via Great Western Railway – with changes at Westbury)
  • Dorchester, Bournemouth, and Southampton

The walk from the station to the harbour takes you through the town centre and along attractive streets lined with local shops and restaurants. Taxis are available outside the station if preferred.

By bus:

Local and regional buses offer frequent services to and from Weymouth, with most routes stopping at King’s Statue or Weymouth Bus Station, both of which are within a 10-minute walk of the harbour.

Key routes include:

  • Route 10 (Weymouth – Dorchester)
  • Route X53 / Jurassic Coaster (Poole – Bridport – Lyme Regis – Exeter, scenic coastal service)
  • Route 4 / 8 (local town service)
