Despite it's name, Gwrych Castle is actually a Grade I country house that replicates medieval architecture, and is one of the earliest examples of such an example in Europe.

After changing hands multiple times, it has now been beautifully preserved and restored by the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust and is now a beautifully picturesque ruin that makes a fantastic family visit.

Explore the imposing gothic ruins, take in the astonishing views, or even walk your dog along the scenic surroundings.

You may recognise Gwrych Castle from the 2020 and 2021 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! Discover the famous TV site where Giovanna Fletcher and Danny Miller were crowned Queen and King of the Castle.

More Info
Is Gwrych Castle dog-friendly?

Yes! Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the interior and exterior areas at Gwrych Castle. Owners must keep dogs on leads at all times. You are also advised to bring your own water and a bowl as these can not be provided.

Is Gwrych Castle wheelchair-accessible?

The majority of the main building is currently a ruin so there is currently no public access.

The Castle was built into a hill, subsequently the terrain is uneven with many steps, slopes and steep footpaths throughout the estate. Sensible footwear is recommended at all times. Many of the footpaths along our standard visitor route are unsuitable for pushchairs, self-drive three wheeled vehicles and wheelchairs.

There is an accessible route for disabled visitors, please make staff aware at the Ticket Office if you require disabled parking and the accessible route so you can be advised accordingly. This route will avoid the steps, but does include a slope leading to Stable Court which can be tiring for a person assisting. The gardens and the Chapel are both accessed via steps so are not accessible to wheelchair users.

As Gwrych Castle is over two hundred years old, substantially ruinous and Grade I listed, no part of it may be altered to make it more accessible at present.

Can I get carer tickets for Gwrych Castle?

Yes, one carer ticket is valid per each full-paying visitor. Proof must be presented on arrival. Proof includes DLA, Carer's Passport, Carer's ID or MAX Card.
