Gwrych Castle has become notorious for ghostly encounters and eerie experiences. Now, you can experience the horrors yourself during one of the castle's popular ghost hunt events!

Event details:

  • After your initial check-in and welcome, you'll be provided a brief safety introduction followed by a rapid tour of the restored areas of the castle. This will be your chance to explore the fascinating history of Gwrych Castle and hear stories of its most infamous spectres.

Ghost Hunting Activities:

  • You'll be introduced to all the paranormal equipment available for use throughout the evening.
  • Vigils will be conducted in and around the castle using a range of tools to help you connect with the other side. Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to uncover the mysteries of Gwrych Castle!

Important information:

  • Please arrive around 9:00pm, where you will be welcomed at the main gates to the castle. The ghost hunt will commence around 10:00pm and will end no later than 2:00am, but this is weather and time-of-year-dependent.
  • You are strongly advised to wear layered clothing and comfortable walking shoes, as temperatures can drop quite significantly during investigations. Flat shoes are recommended, with non-slip soles, as you will be walking around in the dark and on staircases with no lighting. Don't forget your torch either, as the event takes place in entirely unlit locations.
  • Cameras and filming is allowed, and you are more than welcome to bring your own paranormal investigation equipment.
  • There are light snacks and drinks available to purchase, subject to availability, or you can bring your own snacks for throughout the night.
  • Please note that alcohol is not permitted on the estate during or after the investigation.
  • This event is for ghost hunters aged 16 and over only.

More Info
Is Gwrych Castle dog-friendly?

Yes! Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the interior and exterior areas at Gwrych Castle. Owners must keep dogs on leads at all times. You are also advised to bring your own water and a bowl as these can not be provided.

Is Gwrych Castle wheelchair-accessible?

The majority of the main building is currently a ruin so there is currently no public access.

The Castle was built into a hill, subsequently the terrain is uneven with many steps, slopes and steep footpaths throughout the estate. Sensible footwear is recommended at all times. Many of the footpaths along our standard visitor route are unsuitable for pushchairs, self-drive three wheeled vehicles and wheelchairs.

There is an accessible route for disabled visitors, please make staff aware at the Ticket Office if you require disabled parking and the accessible route so you can be advised accordingly. This route will avoid the steps, but does include a slope leading to Stable Court which can be tiring for a person assisting. The gardens and the Chapel are both accessed via steps so are not accessible to wheelchair users.

As Gwrych Castle is over two hundred years old, substantially ruinous and Grade I listed, no part of it may be altered to make it more accessible at present.
