History of Utilita Arena Newcastle
Utilita Arena Newcastle, is under the ownership and operation of ASM Global, an entity that takes pride in employing local staff familiar with the area and its community, and in actively engaging local suppliers and services to bolster the regional economy. Utilita Arena Newcastle holds a strong commitment to the North East region, demonstrating its capacity to offer top-tier entertainment on its expansive 40,000-square-meter premises.
The purpose-built Utilita Arena Newcastle, with a seating capacity exceeding 11,000, was envisioned by the late Chas Chandler, a former member of the Animals, and his partner in Park Arena, Nigel Stanger. It commenced operations in November 1995, inaugurated with a basketball event, followed shortly thereafter by its first concert featuring the iconic David Bowie on December 7th.
Since its inception, Utilita Arena Newcastle rapidly solidified its reputation as a remarkable venue and a prominent landmark in the North East. It now stands alongside renowned regional symbols such as the Tyne Bridge, Angel of the North, and Hadrian's Wall.
