Glorious gardens at Hillsborough Castle

There's nothing better for clearing away the cobwebs than the great outdoors. You can explore 96 acres of it in the gardens of Hillsborough Castle.

Bursting with colour and life Hillsborough Castle's glorious gardens are a joy to explore!

Take in the picture-perfect ornamental grounds, peaceful woodlands, winding waterways and stunning glens at Northern Ireland's royal residence.

These historic gardens developed from the 1760s onwards offer intriguing contrast between ornate formal gardens, woodland and meadows.

Pick up a garden explorer map to reveal more of the garden's unique features, including the 18th-century Walled Garden, Yew Tree Walk and Moss Walk. Keep your eyes peeled for rare plants and specimen trees as you explore the grounds. Then, why not stop by the lake and enjoy the tranquillity of Lady Alice's Temple?

Stroll around the lake and through the glen, wave at the water birds on the lake and see the Quaker Burial ground, the Ice House and more. Kids will love the chance to say hi to the clucking chickens.

A delight for the senses throughout the seasons, Hillsborough Castle's gardens offer the perfect place to relax, unwind and reconnect with nature. So whether you're coming to socialise with friends, have outdoor family bonding time or to enjoy some time for solo contemplation, these unique gardens are bound to inspire and delight.
