A real birds' eye view

Grab your camera (and binoculars!) and step aboard one of the 32 pods of the London Eye. Your trip will take 30 minutes, during which time you'll reach remarkable heights of over 440ft!

Looking down, the famous red buses and boats on the river will slowly become like toy figures as you get higher and higher.

Younger children will love trying to spot each landmark in the city. Learn more about the history of each one by using interactive touch screen devices.

Little Dr. Who fans will instantly recognise The Shard and aspiring wizards will be keen to point out the Millennium Bridge, which was once destroyed by Death Eaters in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

When the stars come out

On a clear day, the uninterrupted views mean you can see over 20 miles away - who will be the first to spot Windsor Castle?

For a different experience, enjoy the London Eye at night. See the magical sight of London's twinkling lights from a quieter pod (top tip: the evenings are less busy if you want to avoid queuing).

On the final part of the descent, stand in position and smile for a group photo - a perfect keepsake for your visit.

Discover the history

Your London Eye ticket also includes a 4D cinema experience in County Hall, where you can learn all about how the icon was built. This four-minute showing is truly immersive with wind, mist and bubble effects keeping you on your toes.

The attraction is designed for all ages and there are also family tickets available to help you nab a great deal. Children under three go free (you'll still need to get an under-3 ticket though).

It's also wheelchair friendly - just remember to phone up to book your slot in advance.

It's worth noting that the time on the ticket is the time you join the line.

The time slot you select is the time you are granted access to the queue for the London Eye. Anticipate queues of around 45 minutes for standard tickets and a queue time of around 20 minutes for Fastrack ticket holders.

The London Eye stands at a height of 135 meters (443 ft). It is one of the world's tallest observation wheels and provides visitors with stunning panoramic views of London's skyline.

The London Eye is busiest between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m during the UK school holidays, and is quieter at the beginning and end of their opening hours, which vary throughout the year.

It depends.

If you want to see really far and capture the best view of the London skyline, the best time to ride the London Eye is early in the morning, as soon as the attraction opens.

But evenings are also a great time to visit because you can see London lit up as the city gets dark.

There are Male, Female and Accessible toilet facilities available in the London Eye Ticket Office. Baby Change facilities are also available. Please note there are no toilet facilities on-board the London Eye itself.
